TAC Hole In The Wall Bug

TAC Hole In The Wall Bug

This particular bug I found on my father, K5PEV's operating desk under a pile of cables, etc. It was still connected to his TS-940, so he must have used it. When I found it, it had slotches of brown crusty stuff on it and I thought it was badly rusted. As I did with all the keys I plan to use on the air, I cleaned it up with liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water and dried with a soft cloth. I was pleasantly surprised to find that whatever the brown gunk was, it came off easily with plain soap and water. Here are the pictures after the cleaning:

Note that the label on the bug says "TELEGRAPH Apparatus Co. NOT Inc. Chicago, Ill USA". On the bottom is scratched the name "THORNTON", which I presume is the name of the original owner. The bug is well used and the chrome finish isn't perfect, but the bug is still perfectly usable. I've hooked it up to my rigs and use it on the air.
